Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: I Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. II Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise ). III If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. (If you keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it)"
Sahih al-Bukhari 33 (Book 2, Hadith 26)
QUICK LESSONS:
Be honest in your words and actions; strive for truthfulness in your dealings with others; maintain good relationships; gain Allah's pleasure.
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned his followers about the signs of a hypocrite. He said that if someone speaks, they tell lies; if they make a promise, they break it; and if you trust them with something, they will not return it. This hadith teaches us to be honest in our words and actions so that we can stay away from hypocrisy. It also teaches us to be careful when trusting people with our belongings or secrets as some people may not keep their word or be dishonest. We should always strive to be truthful in our dealings with others so that we can maintain good relationships and gain Allah's pleasure.
