Narrated Sa'd bin Ubaid: (the Maula of 'Abdur-Rahman bin Azhar) Allah's Messenger ﷺ said, "None of you should long for death, for if he is a good man, he may increase his good deeds, and if he is an evil-doer, he may stop the evil deeds and repent".
Sahih al-Bukhari 7235 (Book 94, Hadith 10)
QUICK LESSONS:
Appreciate life, Do good deeds, Seek forgiveness from Allah
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages us to appreciate the life we have been given and use it wisely. It reminds us that life is a blessing, and we should strive to do good deeds while we are alive. We should not long for death, as this will take away our chance of doing more good deeds or repenting from our wrongdoings. Instead, we should use our time on earth wisely by doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong. We can also seek forgiveness from Allah if we have done something wrong in the past. In this way, we can make the most out of our lives here on earth before meeting Allah in the hereafter.
