Abu Haraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger ﷺ as saying: The most excellent fast after Ramadan is God's month. al-Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night.

This hadith speaks about the excellence of fasting and praying at night. It was narrated by Abu Haraira, who was a companion of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. According to this hadith, fasting in the month of Muharram is considered to be one of the best fasts after Ramadan. Similarly, praying during the night has been given special importance as it has been mentioned that it is better than what has been prescribed for us to pray regularly. This hadith encourages us to make an effort to fast and pray during nights as much as possible so that we can reap its rewards both in this world and hereafter.
