Safiyya reported from some of the wives of Allah's Apostle ﷺ Allah's Apostle ﷺ having said: He who visits a diviner ('Arraf) and asks him about anything, his prayers extending to forty nights will not be accepted.
Sahih Muslim 2230 (Book 39, Hadith 173).
QUICK LESSONS:
Turn to Allah in times of need instead of relying on anyone else or anything else .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the unacceptability of visiting diviners and asking them questions. A diviner is someone who claims to have supernatural powers to tell the future or answer questions. In this hadith, it was reported that Prophet Muhammadﷺ said that if someone visits a diviner and asks them anything, their prayers will not be accepted for forty nights. This means that Allah will not accept any prayers from this person for forty nights as a punishment for seeking help from something other than Him. It teaches us to always turn to Allah in times of need instead of relying on anyone else or anything else because only He can truly help us in our time of need.
