EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of focusing on the life after death rather than this world. It is narrated by Mustaurid, brother of Bani Fihr, that Allah's Messenger said that if one were to dip their finger into an ocean and see what sticks to it, it would be insignificant compared to the Hereafter. The Prophet was emphasizing how small and insignificant this world is in comparison to what awaits us in the afterlife. He was reminding us that our focus should be on preparing for our eternal life rather than worrying about worldly matters which are fleeting and temporary. We should strive for a better afterlife by doing good deeds and avoiding sins so we can reap its rewards when we die.
